Nordstrom has just signed a partnership with Kim Kardashian West’s new shapewear line – SKIMS Solutionwear.
Kim Kardashian’s deal with Nordstrom will make her already inclusive line of shapewear even more inclusive, as it will be available at one of the most popular department stores in the United States. At the moment, the Kardashian shapewear line can only be purchased through the official SKIMS website.
As of February 5, 2020, SKIMS Solutionwear will be available at 25 Nordstrom locations throughout the continental USA. This means that you can actually try on Kim’s shapewear styles before purchasing and make returns so much easier than having to send it back to them, via snail mail. Another advantage of Kim Kardashian’s new partnership with Nordstrom is that you can order on their website too.
Kim Kardashian launched her compression undergarment line just last September. SKIMS set a record for selling more than $2 million dollars of inventory during the first twenty minutes of being launched. Plus, her shapewear line has been internationally praised for the wide selection of sizes and different skin tones.
Kim Kardashian stayed faithful to her fans by making the new partnership via her social media accounts. Her video started by praising Nordstrom’s policy of offering brands that offer inclusive sizing and explaining that this was one of the defining factors that she decided to pair up with Nordstrom.
For the moment, SKIMS will only be available at certain Nordstrom stores in North America. However, you can still order Kim Kardashian’s shapewear through the official website for Nordstrom. At the moment, SKIMS is the fastest growing shapewear brand on the market, with the average customer with the age of 43. Nordstrom has a huge customer base, which will certainly help Kim Kardashian break into an even wider market.
This isn’t the first time that Kardashian moved her online store into the retail store – Ultra Beauty. She did the same with her KKW Beauty collection after she launched it exclusively online in 2017.
Kim Kardashian originally wanted to launch her shapewear line under the name “Kimono,” as a play on her name. But shortly after announcing the name, she was accused of cultural appropriation. The controversial name received severe criticism on social media and was spawned with the hashtag #KimOhNo.
Kim Kardashian loves her fans and she quickly listened to their pleas to change the name. Even the mayor of the city of Kyoto in Japan wrote a formal letter begging Kim Kardashian to reconsider the name of her shapewear collection, as Kimono’s are considered to part of the culture and history of Japan.
Finally, in August of 2019, Kim Kardashian announced that her shapewear line will be called SKIMS Solutionwear, which was a play on the words, “skin” and her name “Kim.”
